Over the Mountains and Through the Woods: Hiking in the Gorge

Here at StayOver, we are extremely passionate about the outdoors. With wonderful views, like Natural Bridge (which offers the Skylift for access to all); amazing hikes, like Grey’s Arch; and skillful inclines, like Martin’s Fork – who can blame us?

Take a trip through the famous Nada Tunnel to access some of the area’s most famous hikes, and don’t forget to take some pictures! At 900 ft in length, 12 ft in width, and 13 ft in height – this marvelous manmade tunnel is referred to as the “Gateway to Red River Gorge”.

As a part of the National Register of Historic Places, Red River Gorge Geological Area offers some of the best hiking trails in all of America with over 100 natural sandstone arches and countless miles of lush forest. At roughly 29,000 acres of land, there is so much to explore – gorgeous waterfalls, humble creeks, ancient rock shelters, beautiful wildlife, and extensive mountainous paths are just outside of your cabin door!

We encourage all our guests, family, and friends to explore this amazing area of Kentucky. To find the perfect hike for you, check out www.alltrails.com or www.hikingproject.com to get an awesome list of hikes – beginner to extreme.

StayOver follows the “Leave No Trace” philosophy and asks that you do the same. If you explore the property of Red River Gorge during your stay, please take any trash back with you. We are committed to preserving this beautiful, historic land that we are so lucky to be a part of.

Pack your lunch, grab your hiking shoes, and let’s explore! Adventures at the Red River Gorge await you!
