Winter in the Red River Gorge

Winter in the Red River Gorge is especially magnificent.  The leaves have fallen from the trees, exposing the gorgeous rock formations.  Winter is the perfect time to enjoy the many sights the Gorge has to offer.  Below are three of many activities available in the Gorge during the colder months of thmornie year:

  1. Take a Drive

When the temperatures drop, you may be less inclined to get outdoors.  Instead, bundle up, grab your friends and family and hit the road for a scenic drive.  The Country Music Highway, the Red River Gorge Scenic Byway, Nada Tunnel, and the Wilderness Road Heritage Highway are just a few of the many scenic drives the Gorge has to offer.  Spend the day driving along the river, view the campsites, take in the majestic views of Sky Bridge.  Pack your lunch and enjoy at a beautiful, scenic pull-off.

  1. Go Ziplining!

The Red River Gorge offers zipline tours seven days a week, year-round. This is certainly an opportunity you do not want to miss! If you’ve been ziplining outside of winter then you really want to catch the amazing views that winter has to offer.  Grab your coat and prepare to take in the breathtaking views of the Daniel Boone National Forest, 300’ above the Gorge at 55 miles per hour.   To book your experience, click here.
